Vulcan, The Iron Man, weighing 60 tons, is the largest
cast-iron statue in the world, and
with the exception of
the statue of Liberty, the highest
statue in America. It
was made to represent Birmingham at
the St. Louis
exposition in 1904, and was recently
moved to its
present location on the top of Red
Mountain.
