Vulcan,
iron man, built in 1904 by the Chamber of Commerce for the St. Louis Exposition.
It is the second largest statue in America. It weighs 120,000 pounds and is 50
feet tall. One thumb weighs 170 lbs. Placed on the top of Red Mountain by the
Kiwanis Club of Birmingham. The base is of white Alabama marble. Height of
pedestal, 120 ft.
