discuss and play examples of archaic forms of a cappella sacred music that
people still sing today, including spirituals, hymns, and Sacred Harp.

Edna Turner will give her "Freedom Quilt" presentation. The Freedom Quilt
has a design on it that shows the ways the slaves had to travel to escape
their lives of servitude. May 21
Alabama author, Jackie Matte will talk about Southeastern Indians and her
book They Say The Wind Is Red. Ms. Matte is a local authority on
the Choctaw and has researched Alabama's Indians for some time. May

explain how evidence is collected in crime investigations and how it is

kinds of book groups. Ms. Swagler is a veteran member of book groups of
all kinds. If you are in a book discussion group or would like to form
one, she will give you many helpful tips on how to organize a successful

Dolores Hydock, Birmingham’s own acclaimed actress and storyteller, will
present a solo presentation of some of her favorite works of fiction. Ms.
