Joyce Cauthen will speak on the country church and its music. She will
discuss and play examples of archaic forms of a cappella sacred music that
people still sing today, including spirituals, hymns, and Sacred Harp.
Edna Turner will give her "Freedom Quilt" presentation. The Freedom Quilt
has a design on it that shows the ways the slaves had to travel to escape
their lives of servitude.
Alabama author, Jackie Matte will talk about Southeastern Indians and her
book They Say The Wind Is Red. Ms. Matte is a local authority on
the Choctaw and has researched Alabama's Indians for some time.
Join Yvonne Crumpler as she takes you on a short genealogical jaunt with
maps. She will discuss using maps in researching your ancestors.

kinds of book groups. Ms. Swagler is a veteran member of book groups of

Dolores Hydock, Birmingham’s own acclaimed actress and storyteller, will
present a solo presentation of some of her favorite works of fiction. Ms.
Hydock always packs the house and for good reason. This is a must see.
