BPL Celebrates Women's History Month

March Brown Bag
Lunch Programs
Please join us at the Birmingham Public Library each Wednesday during March at 12:00 noon for our Brown Bag Lunch series. These programs will
be held in the third floor auditorium of the Linn-Henley Building at the
Birmingham Public Library, 2100 Park Place. The Library provides a beverage.
Reservations are not necessary. These programs are free and open to the

March 7
Professor Ada Long from the
University of Alabama at Birmingham will discuss the works of African-American
writer Alice Walker.
March 14
University of Montevallo
Professor Pennie Ticen will lecture on women writers in South Asia, their
works and their impact in the literary world.
March 21
Storyteller Dolores Hydock,
accompanied by the old string band Flying Jenny, will present the program
"Footprint on the Sky: Memories of a Chandler Mountain Spring."
The program showcases the folklore of an Alabama community.
March 28
Professor Virginia Volker from
the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Ms. Emily Norton from Ramsey
High School will discuss the history of the women's movement and its
influence on American society.
