join us at the Birmingham Public Library each Wednesday during March at 12:00 noon for our Brown Bag Lunch series. These
programs will be held in the Arrington Auditorium of the Linn-Henley
Building at the Birmingham Public Library, 2100 Park Place. Bring your
lunch, the Library provides a beverage. Reservations are not necessary.

March 6 "Remembering
The Ladies: Early Women Writers and the Study of American Literature"
Dr. Joana Owens of Birmingham-Southern College will discuss early American
women writers and their impact on literary tradition.
March 13 "In India
and Elsewhere: Locating Home and Family in Three Women Writers"
Professor Ticen of the University of Montevallo will lecture on three women
writers in Southeast Asia and their works.
March 20 "Women
History Comes Home: Stories About Mothers"
Master storyteller Dolores Hydock shares stories that celebrate the women
whose history mingles with yours: mom.
March 27 "Leadership
Losses: Evangelical Exports of Women from Alabama"
Professor Carol Vaughn, director of the Christian Women's Leadership Center
at Samford University, will explore how evangelical attitudes towards women
contributed to a deficit of leadership in Alabama by causing women in the
nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to leave the state to seek
opportunities elsewhere, specifically as missionaries.
