March 2018 at East Lake Branch Library: Programs include Monday chess club, Tech Tuesday, author talk

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-East Lake Branch Library has plenty of fun and informative activities for patrons during the month of March 2018 including a Birthday Party in honor of children’s book author Dr. Seuss at 3:30 p.m. today, Friday, March 2. Today also happens to be National Read Across America Day in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday. 
Other programs include free chess lessons every Monday at 3:30 p.m., Tech Tuesday every Tuesday at 11 a.m. in which adults can learn basic computer skills, an author talk at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21 featuring Avery Elizabeth Hurt. See the full schedule below:    

•    Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Party, today,  March 2 at 3:30 p.m. – Afterschool children are invited to join East Lake Library for crafts and light refreshments to celebrate Dr. Seuss.
•    Preschool Storytime at East Lake Library, every Thursday at 10 a.m.  -  Come join the fun, music and learning.  Daycare groups are welcome.

•    Tech Tuesday, every Tuesday at 11 a.m. - Limit to 3 per session.  Reservations recommended by calling 205-836-3341.

Tuesday, March 27 – Internet job search tips

•    After-school Hope Chess Club, every Monday at 3:30 p.m.  – After school students are invited to learn how to play chess. 

•    Celebrating National Craft Month, Wednesday, March 7  at 3:30 p.m. -  
Get out your glue, glitter and construction paper.  Supplies and smiles provided. 

•    After-school Creature Feature, Monday March 12   at 3:30 p.m. -   After-school children are invited to join the fun and learning at East Lake Library. This month come and meet Roderick the hissing Madagascar Hissing Cockroach.

•    Playaway Launchpad Activities, Wednesday, March 14 at 3:30 p.m. - After-school children are invited to learn how to use Playaway Launchpads.

•    Local Children’s Author Presentation, Wednesday, March 21 at 3:30p.m. - Students and adults are invited to meet and talk with Ms. Avery Elizabeth Hurt about her experiences writing children’s books. 

•    Morning Art Break, Wednesday, March 28 at 11 a.m. - Adults are invited to express their creativity through drawing with colored pencils and crayons.   Limit 10.  Reservations recommended.  Supplies provided.
