Inglenook Library hosting 3 Women’s History Month programs, bottle flip challenge

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-In honor of Women’s History Month, Inglenook Branch Library in March is hosting three programs – one for adults and two for youth.

 The Women’s History Month Programs are:  

•    Monday, March 5, 3:30 p.m. – Girls of Promise with Purpose: Spring into Action
 In honor of Women’s History Month, Elvira Davis will discuss with young ladies how their actions can impact their lives.  

•    Friday, March 16, 6:30 p.m. – An Expression of Appreciation for the Women of the Inglenook Community: Celebrating Women’s History Month
 Women work hard, constantly juggling families, jobs, bills, and other duties that leave many feeling depleted and exhausted. In honor of Women’s History Month, join the Inglenook Library for a movie night showing of “Hidden Figures.” This program was a 2017 recipient of the BPL Board of Trustee’s Innovative & Cool Award which helps fund library activities that benefit the community. 

•    Wednesday, March 21, 3:30 p.m. - Readers Are Leaders Book Club
 Join the Readers Are Leaders Book Club to celebrate Women’s History Month. The youth club will read and discuss the lives of women who have impacted the world.

•    Tuesday, March 6, 3:30 p.m. – Full S.T.E.A.M Ahead: Water Bottle Flip STEM Challenge 
 After school students will have fun following the popular YouTube water bottle flipping challenge, tossing a water bottle and attempting to land it straight up.  This activity will use the scientific method, some probability, fractions and data collection while having fun.

•    Friday, March 9 and Friday, March 23, 3:30 p.m. – Free Play Game Day Friday
 Have fun playing a variety of games on Free Play Game Day. Youth will play a variety of games - Wii, NES Nintendo Classic Edition, Checkers, and more. Game winners will receive cool prizes.

•    Tuesday, March 13, 3:30 p.m. – Lucky Charms Challenge
 Compete to see who can get the most lucky charm cereal from one bottle to the next in a one minute time frame. The winner will receive a prize.

•    Tuesday, March 27, 3:30 p.m. – Creature Feature
 Enjoy creatures with Ms. Angela from Springville Road.

•    Thursday, March 29, 3:30 p.m. –Easter Movie Showing
 In honor of Easter, please join Inglenook Library to watch a family Easter movie. Refreshments will be provided.
