Smithfield Library Hosting 3 Virtual Computer Workshops in September

On Wednesday, September 9, the Smithfield Branch Library will hold the first of three virtual computer workshops. It is the latest of many free online programs the Birmingham Public Library has hosted to assist patrons since the COVID-19 pandemic began in mid-March 2020.

One of the workshops will be How to Find a Job with Google, part of a partnership with Google BPL began in August 2018, which the Birmingham Public Library was the first Alabama library to host a Grow with Google workshop.  In June 2019, the Atlantic Magazine featured how BPL's computer workshops and free access to computers as an example of how libraries are helping bridge the digital gap.

The workshops will be as follows (all via the video conference site Zoom):
How to Hoopla, led by Ranchel Marable (Wednesday, September 9 at 11 a.m.)
Introduction to Computer Basics, led by Earnest Wrenn (Wednesday, September 16 at 2 p.m.)
Google Job Search, led by Heather McWilliams (Wednesday, September 23, 2 p.m.)
