Central Library, SCORE to host free small business seminar Monday, Feb. 1
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama-The Birmingham Public Library will host a free seminar, ”Steps to Starting Your Business,” this Monday, Feb. 1.
The monthly seminar series began Jan. 4 and concludes March 7 at THECentral Library, 2100 Park Place downtown, in conjunction with the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) and the City of Birmingham’s Office of Economic Development. The seminar will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Central Library’s Arrington Auditorium, located on the fourth floor of the Linn-Henley Research Library.
The Monday, Feb. 1, seminar will be presented by SCORE mentor Maria Mixon of the Birmingham chapter of SCORE, a national nonprofit comprised of volunteers willing to share their business knowledge and experience with prospective entrepreneurs and small business owners. For over 50 years, SCORE mentors have helped millions of business owners start or grow their business.
Topics to be covered in each seminar will include the following:
- Crafting a vision statement.
- Identifying sources of funding.
- Determining the legal structure of your business.
- Devising a business plan.
- Investigating sources of business and economic information.
