August 5 Bards & Brews canceled due to AC issues at the Central Library downtown
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Aug. 2, 2016) – The Birmingham Public Library (BPL) has canceled its popular Bards & Brews poetry performance/beer tasting series that was slated for Friday, August 5, at the Central Library. BPL Interim Director Sandi Lee said the event is being canceled due to air conditioning repairs at Central Library taking longer than expected.
Since air conditioning problems began over a week ago, the Central Library's East Building’s 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors have been on reduced operating hours, open only 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., closing early because of the increased afternoon heat.
Bards & Brews is an event made possible by grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. For more information, call 205-226-3670, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org, visit the Bards & Brews Facebook page, orbplonline.org/bardsbrews.
