Central Library closed today, Aug. 4, due to AC issues- Elevators finally working again
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama- The Central Library will be closed today as
air conditioning repairs continue. Both the East Building and Linn-Henley Research Building, located at 2100 Park Place downtown, are not open to the public, but will resume normal operating hours on Friday, Aug. 5, said Sandi Lee, Interim Director of the Birmingham Public Library (BPL).
The Central Library has been on a reduced operating schedule since the air conditioning system began experiencing problems on July 24. There is some good news though: The City of Birmingham, which owns the library, has completed repairs to both elevators in the Central Library’s East Building. Both elevators had been inoperable since May.
Check back with the BPL website (www.bplonline.org
) for updates.
