Money Matters fraud prevention workshop to be held Dec. 14 at Central Library
“Protecting Yourself Against Targeted Fraud”

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama- Consumer fraud goes up during the Christmas holidays. The Birmingham Public Library (BPL)’s downtown location will be hosting a timely workshop designed to protect those out doing last minute shopping in stores and online.
The workshop, “Protecting Yourself Against Targeted Fraud,” will be held Wednesday, Dec. 14 from 12-1 p.m. in the Story Castle, 2nd Floor Youth Department, in Central Library, 2100 Park Place. The presenter will be from the Regions Institute for Financial Education at UAB
BPL has partnered with the Regions Institute for Financial Education at UAB to help patrons build a better understanding of their personal finances and begin developing a plan for the future. The series of free workshops, held on the first Wednesday of each month, began in July 2016 and conclude in May 2017.
The public is invited to participate in discussions about a variety of money management issues and learn ways to achieve their economic goals. The remaining schedule and topics, all from noon to 1 p.m., are as follows:

1/4/2017 – Dealing With Debt
2/1/2017 – Where to Invest Your College Money
3/1/2017 – Your Credit Report
4/5/2017 – Saving Through Tax Refunds
