Government Documents
About
The Government Documents Department's collection contains a variety of
documents and publications issued by federal, state, and local (Jefferson County
and Birmingham) governments.
The Birmingham Public Library has been a
Federal Depository Library
since 1895, with the majority of the Department's federal material supplied by
the United States Government Printing Office.
The Department is a
Patent and Trademark Depository Library as well, containing resources
relating to patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
The Government Documents Department also houses the
Cooperating Collection of The Foundation Center of New York. This collection
of publications and electronic resources provides information about non-profit
grant making foundations in the United States. The 2006 core collection includes
more than twenty titles.
In addition, the Department serves as an affiliate agency of the Alabama Data
Center, which disseminates demographic information about the state of Alabama.
