YOUNG PROFESSIONALS OF BIRMINGHAM PUBLIC
LIBRARY CALL FOR BOARD NOMINATIONS
Why join the Young Professionals of the Birmingham Public Library?
BPL's Young Professionals are concerned with the literary culture of the
Birmingham region and are committed to making the library the center of
lifelong learning for the city. The Young Professionals will provide
opportunities for socializing with like-minded people, plan and enjoy
literary-based events and intellectually stimulating programming, and
exercise leadership and volunteer skills to benefit the Library through
regular social events and an annual signature fund raising event.
Mission: The Young Professionals of the Birmingham Public
Library celebrate the rich history and prosperous future of Birmingham's
oldest cultural institution. The Young Professionals support the Library
financially and culturally and promote its remarkable treasures. By hosting
dynamic lectures, special collection tours, and other social events and by
volunteering time and skills, the Young Professionals increase public
awareness of and access to the Library's resources.
Qualifications: YP Nominees should be true stewards of the
library-individuals who are willing to commit time and resources for the
benefit of the library system. The library seeks a diverse group of people
from various backgrounds and professions who love the library and the
creative and thoughtful life that it represents.
Anyone may nominate up to three potential Young Professional Board
Members (The Library does not disclose to nominees who nominated them)
BPL will choose no more than 40 new members
